3 weeks. Nancy not feeling very well today, and her jury summons will be rescheduled, much to
her chagrin.   Its a warm day, got a bit cooler last hour.

Working on fence; Started effort to sleep without the aid of Lunesta.

June 12th, 2015

Worked most of the day on the backyard fence.
I purchased the lumber close to two months ago,
so I could be ready when motivated to accomplish
the task.  Then it rained for 4 weeks, while the lumber
sat in the covered and screened porch.
Started working about two weeks ago. A little here, a
little there. After some days, I got started and kept
going until I was actually making great progress.
Some day later, Falo, brought up a old problem I
have not entirely figured out or know how to fix.
We get water run off from the neighbor to our west.
Over 34 years, we have lost some ground and about
3 inches of soil erosion. I could not finish the fence,
because I would not be able to make an effort to remedy
the water problem. When I thought I knew what to do,
I started on the solution. But, it looked good one day,
then I would discover some defect in the logic or plan.
I purchased more lunber and some ready mix concrete.
Basically, installing a 2x6x8 base board to hold off,
or redirect the water towards the backyard creek.
I needed to complete the erosion fix, before I could
finish putting up the pickets.  Then, I was troubled by
the source of the problem which was/is the water starts
from the side and front of neighbor's house.  I need to
curb the roof water which wash down and under the
landscaping timbers I had installed 34 years ago. It
curbed the water, but would eventually the water
removed some of the soil from under the timbers, and
then the water wash up next to the house foundation
and then back to our backyard.
I installed the baseboards, but the 2x6x8 was not high
enough, so I decided to stack another 2x6x8 on top of
the first one, and decided to fill part of the cavity created
with ready mix cement.
But first, I would have to replace the timbers with
2x6x8 baseboards as well. That took half a day,
since I had  to remove the six of the 8  lattices, dig up the accumulated soil
on the landscape timbers. this is taking a lot of tie to explain. I have not
finished, I wore out mixing cement mix, so I will finish next week.

Topic two:  My Sleep aid, Lunesta.
On occasion, it troubles me that I need to take it, in order to get a decent
night's sleep.
Two nights ago, I decided to rough it for the 3rd time. I did not take the pill
on Wednesday night nor last night.  Tonight, will make night number 3.
I would like to stay off for 30 days and see at that time if its gonna be no lunesta, or 'To heck with it, I will keep on taking it, although I sometimes
wonder what this Hipnotic is doing to me when I am awake.  Maybe it will
hurt my memory, if not already.

First night we went to bed at midnight. I stayed awake until 1:30, when I
got up and went to the bathroom, just to change the routine of laying in bed
trying to go to sleep and check on the time.
I went back to bed and went to sleep, but woke up at
3:30. Again, went to bathroom and check the time. Went to sleep, and woke up around 6:30. So I actually got about 5 hours of sleep more or less.

Second night: We stayed up watching old movies and went to bed at
1:20 for 1:30. I stayed awake until I got up to check the time. It was 3:30.
Went back to bed and woke up at about the same time, 6:30. So I got about
3 hours of sleep. I did ok the rest of the day. It was not as if I had really stayed up late and woke up early, feeling sleepy and tired or anything like that.

I'll see what happens tonight.

4/25/2015   Saturday 6:13 PM.

Received and installed Laptop replacement battery.

Been digging a spot for recently purchased Fragrant Tea Olive
Bushes/trees.

Rained last night and a couple of nights earlier.  Need a more
reliable rain gage.

Looking into Home Insurance Quotes; Think what I pay is too much.  Pay about 1524.00  annual premium.

Allstate quoted 741.00 per year.
If that quote will hold for a few years, its good enough for me.
That would be half what I pay no.

Looking to change Auto Insurance company as wel; Paying
1200 to Geico for four vehicles.  Need to have James take over the black van and me decide about Honda.

Fence project holding.  just waiting for a nice cool day to begin and finish.

Would like to take a trip, but would like to get some things done just before.

Still saving what I can keep from spending. Would like to continue
saving for Older age.

While looking to fix laptop, I loosened some back screws. Put them back, but now, I often do not get the letter "L" when I tap it. I think the laptop back is not entirely snug against back of keyboard.

Gotta go.

Payday!
Live payday to payday. Not like the old days when money ran out before
payday. Now its the most exciting thing to look forward to.  Go take money
out of one place and deposit it in another. I keep calling it my Wells fargo
routine. Wells Fargo, as in the cowboy and indian movie days.  Crooks
were always on the look out (argument here) for money shipments. I go to
to the bank and take out several hundred dollars, then between banks am
concerned about carrying more than I can afford to lose. What if I have an
accident and have 3 thousand in my shirt pocket. I keep saying or asking
myself, why am I doing this, why do I keep doing this?  The answer is that
if I transfer electronically, it requires a minimum of 3 business days. That is the business standard, whether money transfers or Stock trades and settlement; I have done the transfer in such a way; the fee is $3 dollars for 3 business days, or $10 or $15 for next business day. Overnight wire is $25.00 Dollars. I also don't like the wait.  I want it done today! and for no cost, So
I go to the bank and withdraw the money every 1st of the month. I leave enough money in the checking account to cover bill pay and other debits such as groceries, gas, etc.
I like making deposits and seeing my savings balances climb.
When the day comes that I think I have enough money in savings, I'll
concentrate less on what I have just described, and just leave the money in the Primary bank and let the balance build up as it  may or may not.
Blah blah blah. Most things I talk about have so many details, I get tired of trying to write them all down, especially since my typing is slow and or I make mistakes and have to correct them. Its not typing, but texting does not fit the description either.     Publish.

March 27, 2015

Since I lack the discipline to update daily, its difficult to summarize
the week just past.  Last Sunday, March 15th, after Mass and later
breakfast, I thought about and started to trim the Red tipped Photinia
we use as a separating shrub between our house and the neighbor on the
west side.  They have been there since 1981 and have grown tall and some
what spread out, especially the tops.  Birds, mostly doves, nest at night
and their droppings have made part of the sculptured blocks look awful.
The only way to eliminate that problem was to trim the bushes at the top
so that they would no longer have a place to habitually nest at night.
I trimmed them starting on Sunday because, Mondays is yard waste pickup
as well as garbage day.  Yard waste must be in a bag, or bundled or in a
container. I was only able to stuff a small amount in two rubber maid
containers. The rest of the clippings remained on the driveway close to the
containers. My unrealistic hope was that the collectors might chose to put in
the rest, if not some, of the clippings. The truck is good size and they would
have done me a great favor. But no, they just did their job and picked up the
two containers.

Photinias can grow as big as trees.
Later during the week, after I trimmed and cut the grass, I decided to chop
down to size the remaining clippings so as to fit them in the two containers
as before.  I filled the two containers, and still needed more container space.
I decided that in the interest of removing the eye sore of the clippings, I would use the Garbage can as well. Typically, we don't collect enough garbage to fill up the container. Well, the large looking container, does not
really hold much. I decided that since I had chopped the clipping of one of the containers, in small enough pieces, that I would empty the can in Falo's
compost pile. That allowed me to remove some of the clipping from the Garbage can, which was too full and would not leave enough room for garbage bags during the week.
That took me about two hours to accomplish; my back was aching and I was tired. That was only Tuesday. Might have to wrap up the rest of the week in
a couple of sentences because its Friday March 27, its after 12 noon and I
have an eye appointment.
Later .....

Back Again; Its been close to 4 years since my last posting.

 4 March 2015

My memory is a bit worse by my critical estimation. I am back to my
previous thoughts about writing stuff every day so my view or recollection
of the recent past will not be a near blank.  It's amazing how time really moves on and on. Duh; No, of course we all acknowledge that time moves on, but my perceptions of time in the near past and intermediate past , continue to puzzle me.  I don't know why I place so much focus or concern in my perceptions of time.  All this blah, and more blah about perceptions is not allowing me to jot down what I should so last week or month, or just yesterday will be more than a vague recollection of almost nothing.
For example, when was my last medical appointment? I will most likely remember which clinic I went to, but not the date. Perhaps it should not
matter, but its a sign or flag of cognitive impotence or memory failure.
I may think or be of the opinion that one of my vehicles had an oil change or tire rotation, a few months ago. It has turned out in several incidences over several months, that I mis-judged the time frame by several months, even years. In the near term, I cannot recall the events of 3 days ago, and
if I can, its a little sketchy. I have observed that if certain memorable events take place over a few days, I am able to recall quite well.
For example, this past weekend; On Saturday, I recall that the weather was
dreary enough that we did not elect to go to Saturday Mass.
Sunday;  I remember the
afternoon and not going out anywhere, but just now recollect that my Cousin from Ft Worth called and we talked for about 45 minutes. The thing of note, is that My cousin does not call on Sunday and I don't call him because, its a family day. His Sons and Daughters, as well as their respective children come visit the old folks. When the phone rang and I recognized who was calling, I merely answered the phone and preceded to converse without a certain awareness. Some 30 minutes into the conversation, something in the conversation raised a flag for me. OMG,
today is Sunday! and you are supposed to have a house-full of family and not be on the phone!  The Larger point was that although We had gone to church
just this morning, I FORGOT it was Sunday! I remember Monday because I had an Appointment at 1pm. I had decided to run some errands during the mid and late morning time, with a plan to be home to eat something and leave for the appointment at or about 12:20 giving us 40 minutes to make it to North Austin and my appointment. Well, I ran late between banks and credit unions, then my 5 gal of gas in the van's tank went from 5 or so gallons to 1 gallon. I had to stop at a gas station and fill up. By the time I finished pumping gas, it was 12 noon. I wondered how I was to get home
and eat something in 20 minutes. All this jibberish is relevant because it is easy to recall. If I had had a non eventful morning, I most likely would not recall anything but hanging loose for about 3 hours and unable to define this time period only as foggy or vague. Maybe, Just Maybe, I have no memory problems and its my lack of a day to day meaningful life that is my problem. In other words, its the mundaneness that is difficult to recollect.
God!, I feel better already. That's the problem! My days are the same, pretty much day after day, unless I got to church or Doctor.
On a down note, why do I forget where I put my phone or glasses? Or, on the way to the garage to get bathroom or facial tissue, I stop to do something else, and hours later, I am reminded that the hallway bathroom needs paper. Then, I remember my original trip, hours earlier.  Well, I will defer this new area of vagueness, on my next Blogural self analysis. I am confident, I will figure or rationalize why I have these experiences with distractions. Wish I could say, "Gotta go watch Leno"; How long has it been?  I am afraid to guess!
