Cool overcast day. Have not done much today.
Yesterday Dec 21, Sue and Julie went home. Took Sue to the Airport and
after that, headed north to take Julie home to Phlugerville.
James was off yesterday and the sun was out so I took him for some
driving experience to Randalls on Manchaca. Got there ok, but on parking,
he pulled in to the parking space way to close to a fairly new Ford Texas
edition truck. Sounded like hell when he crunched the truck. After I told him
to turn his wheels and back up, it sounded almost as bad.
Got a piece of paper from glove compartment and had james identify himself
as driver, me as the owner, plus Insurance policy number, home phone, and asked him to sign it.
I put it on the truck's windshield wiper and waited a bit for the owner to come out. When no one appeared to come out, we went on to the Randall's
gas pumps to get some gas. After pumping I drove around the parking lot to the spot where the incident happened, and the Ford truck was just pulling out.
It proceeded forward, but seemed to slow down to a creep. I drove around and
past them and parked. The lady driver must have been reading the note when
she slowed to a stop. I managed to get her attention just before she took off
again, and I went over to speak with her. Before I got to speak, she said
"Thank you for the note", I said, I was just trying to do the right thing.
I told her, James was a licensed California driver, but was a little nervous.
She said she would leave it up to her husband, and wished me a Merry Christmas. I said, Merry Christmas to you and God Bless you. There was
another lady with her, maybe a sister or mother. The lady driver appeared to
be in her early 60's.
No one has called today, so hopefully, the husband will let the matter go.
Although, he may on any day decide to have it polished or otherwise made to
look nice again. It was not bad, but it was kind of obvious. The kind of thing
that happens to a lot of vehicles in parking lots.
Today, Shawn called me on the cell phone. The name showed up as Shannon calling. I don't know what happened, but I was surprised by a man's voice and
when it was not Ryan using Shannon's phone, I did not appreciate the voice of
Shawn asking for help to move because now he had an apartment key.
I was already irritated with a text 15 minutes before from Nancy telling me "God is Good, closed on the house today. Frankly, I am between a rock and a
hard place. I am a christian, this is christmas and I feel a little outraged and
offended by my daughter. On Saturday at the Garcia Christmas get together
she shows up, unknown to me, waltzes in to the kitchen to serve herself some
food and did not so much as say "Hi Mule", as my Mother would have said in her days. No respect nor courtesy. I just sat there stunned, wondering what is this? I kept eating or trying to enjoy the meal. Later, as I served my self some
fruit salad, she came by behind me and said, "hello daddy, adding, "we close on the house this week."
I remained calm and told her, I wish you had said that when you came in.
What I want for Christmas is a composure that will permit me to
"turn the other cheek" no matter what. That can only happen by and with the
Grace of God. I am pissed, but know that if I want to be close to God and
imitate Jesus Christ, I have to controll myself.
I better go for now.
